NATURE'S
CHOSEN FOOD FOR HEALTH
Sunflower fulfills nutritional needs of the human body
more than any other cereals or nuts.
STRENGTHEN
THE EYESIGHT
Sunflower kernels is the only grain variety high in vitamin
A and vitamin E. Both vitamins play the important roles
to improve eyesight. Eye lens which receives images are
formed of unsaturated fat. If the body is deficient in
vitamin E, oxygen, will react with fatty acid enabling
cataracts to form. Vitamin E is an antioxidant agent.
At the same time vitamin A will improve eye vision. Deficiency
of vitamin A may cause night blindness.
REDUCE
CHOLESTEROL
Heart failure is the world most serious problem. About
75% of artery problems are caused by cholesterol blocked
arteries and blood vessels. Unsaturated fatty acid (lanolin
acid) in sunflowers can dissolve cholesterol in the blood
vessels. Moreover, vitamin A helps extend the life of
red blood cells and prevents artery blockage and blood
clots, the heart can more easily pump blood and the circulatory
system can function smoothly.
PREVENT
SKIN AGING
As the skin ages, fat in the cell wall can be destroyed
by the oxidation process creating brown spots under the
skin. Without fat, the skin becomes withered and dry and
looks old. The brown spots, especially, make the skin
look stained. Vitamin A acts as a protector of this fat
in the cell wall, stopping if from being destroyed by
the oxidation process. The skin looks full and taut, bright
and youthful when there is plenty of fat the cell wall.
Vitamin A in sunflower kernels also can prevent skin ageing
and acne.
VITAMIN
E AND ESTROGEN (CONTRACEPTIVE PILLS)
Woman who regularly take contraceptives are at risk of
suffering vitamin E deficiency. Vitamin E deficiency can
cause abnormalities in the reproductive system: difficulty
conceiving, sterility, premature births and miscarriages.
Vitamin E is essential for the unborn child also. The
fetus of a vitamin E deficient expectant mother will also
have a vitamin E deficiency. Once born, the infant conditions
often found in premature infants. Many women who regularly
consume sunflower kernels have reported that they normalize
cycle, particularly in woman going though or approaching
menopause.
RECOMMEND
CONSUMPTION
The body needs 15-30 I.U. of Vitamin E per day. Sunflower
kernels can be eaten as often you as want. It is recommended
to take at 50-100 gms daily with banana or fruits which
will give them a smooth flavor.
ROASTED
PUMPKIN SEEDS
The Pumpkin plant (Cucurbita Moschata) is and annual crop,
it is a creeping vine with large, 5 - 6 lobed leaves and
branching tendrils. Pumpkins are normally large in size,
round and flat at the top, and with rough skin. The color
of pumpkin flesh varies from greenish - yellow to yellow
and bright orange.
Pumpkin seed are flat, shelled, and have an oval shape.
Chlorophylls (plant pigments normally found in all kinds
of vegetables) found on the skin of pumpkin seeds provide
green color and a slightly bitter taste (similar to vegetable
taste)
Pumpkin seeds contain the appropriate amount of nutritive
constituents such as proteins, vitamins and minerals,
which are listed below. In addition, every 100 g. of pumpkin
seeds provide 620 Kilocalories.
HEALTH
BENEFITS OBTAINED FROM PUMPKIN SEEDS
1. Pumpkin seeds are said to help prevent disease in the
prostate gland. Pumpkin seeds contain zinc in high amounts.
Zinc is a dietary essential mineral, which performs many
functions as part of many intracellular mechanisms within
every cell in the body. Zinc is essential for the normal
growth, and immunity of the human body. Zinc deficiencies
have been found to result in retarded growth, delayed
and impaired sexual development, rough skin and anemia.
2. Reduce cholesterol in blood. Although pumpkin seeds,
like other, contain high amounts of oil, the oil is composed
mostly by unsaturated fatty acids, which reduces the risk
of coronary heart disease.
3. Prevent gallstones in gallbladder. It has been known
that the deficiency of protein and phosphorus in the human
diet are the main causes of gallstones in gallbladder.
Moreover, phosphorus helps convert food to energy, and
aids in the nerve and muscle function. Together with calcium,
phosphorus helps build and maintain healthy bones teeth.
4. Prevent Colon Polyps, Diverticulosis, and Diverticulitis.
Diverticulosis is associated with a weak - ending of the
intestinal wall caused by the pressure of hard stools.
The weakened intestine wall then develops tiny pouches
in which fecal material becomes trapped. Diverticulitis
is an inflammation of the intestine wall that develops
when these tiny pouches become lrritated or infected.
Pumpkin seeds contain high amounts of dietary fiber.
Dietary fiber promotes the formation of softer stools
in the colon and prevents constipation. It has been widely
accepted that high consumption of foods with high contents
of dietary fiber reduces the incidence of both cancer
of the colon and diverticulitis.
5. Promote milk production during lactation. If a newly
mother experiences lack of breast milk to feed her baby,
consumption of ground, roasted pumpkin seeds as a snack
will promote the production of milk.
6. Purgative of several intestine parasites such as the
tapeworm and the giant intestine fluke. This can be easily
done by taking of finely ground roasted pumpkin seeds
(60 g) twice a day before every meal. Drinking the slurry
of finely ground roasted pumpkin seeds (60 g) mixed with
two cups of milk two or three times a day also provides
the same effect. |
